Duckweed - Floating Plant

Duckweed (Lemna minor) is a fast-growing floating aquatic plant that forms a lush green carpet on the water’s surface, making it an excellent addition to guppy tanks, breeding setups, shrimp aquariums, and outdoor ponds. Its tiny floating leaves naturally absorb excess nutrients such as ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates, helping to improve water quality while reducing algae growth.
One of Duckweed’s biggest advantages is the natural shelter it provides. Its dense floating cover offers shade that helps reduce stress in guppies and creates safe hiding places for newborn fry, increasing their survival rate. The fine roots also serve as a habitat for beneficial microorganisms, which become an additional natural food source for baby fish.
Duckweed grows rapidly under moderate to bright lighting and requires very little maintenance. It does not need substrate, fertilizers, or CO₂ injection, making it suitable for beginners as well as experienced aquarists. Under ideal conditions, it multiplies quickly, allowing hobbyists to harvest excess plants regularly.
This floating plant also helps maintain a stable aquarium environment by limiting light penetration, slowing algae growth, and promoting a more natural ecosystem. It is compatible with guppies, mollies, platies, bettas, tetras, rasboras, shrimp, snails, and most peaceful freshwater species.
Each order contains healthy, hand-selected Duckweed harvested fresh before dispatch. Plants are securely packed in moisture-retaining packaging to ensure they arrive in excellent condition. Minor leaf loss during transit is normal, and the plants typically recover quickly after being placed in the aquarium.
Note: Duckweed is an extremely fast-growing floating plant. Regular thinning is recommended to prevent complete surface coverage and to maintain adequate light and gas exchange within the aquarium.
